The Los Angeles Dodgers set the record for Opening Day home runs with eight and our Dodgers Beat the Streak series started on the right foot.

The Los Angeles Dodgers did not take much time to warm the bats up and slaughtered the Arizona Diamondbacks and former teammate Zack Greinke on Opening Day.

The Dodgers delivered eight home runs, which included a pair from Joc Pederson and Enrique Hernandez alongside shots from Corey Seager, Max Muncy, Cody Bellinger and Austin Barnes.

This is a direct contrast to last year’s Opening Day, in which the Dodgers were shutout at home. Last year there appeared to be a team that was moping around after losing in the World Series, this year the team appears angry to the bone.

It is just one game and the last thing we want to do is get ahead of ourselves but there was another pretty big positive from the game: it got out Beat the Streak up to one game.

LA Sports Hub selected Corey Seager, who slugged the home run for his only hit of the game. Meanwhile, Twitter selected Justin Turner, who somehow did not join in on the fun despite the Dodgers scoring 12 runs.

Turner went a whopping 0-5 on the contest, which kept Twitter’s streak from getting off the ground. Here is who we have tonight, March 29, for Ross Stripling vs. Robbie Ray.

Jason’s pick (Current streak: 1): A.J. Pollock

A.J. Pollock also went hitless on Opening Day as he and Turner were the only starters outside of Hyun-Jin Ryu that did not provide a base hit.

The chances of Pollock going 0-for in back-to-back games to start the year against his former team seem slim to none. Pollock is someone that virtually never goes on long droughts and seems like a lock to get a base hit today against southpaw Robbie Ray.

With a southpaw on the bump, Pollock will likely bat lead-off for the Dodgers, which is only going to give him more chances to get that base hit. First inning single through the 5-6 gap to start the game.

Twitter’s pick (Current streak: 0): Chris Taylor

Twitter’s pick for the second game of the year comes from Michael Wittman, a site expert over at our FanSided sister site, Dodgers Way.

Taylor is likely going to get the start in left field because of the left-handed pitcher today despite Joc Pederson having the best possible Opening Day he could have asked for.

Taylor did not have a great spring and is trending in the wrong direction but was making hard contact more frequently at the end of spring because of a tweak in his batting stance. Taylor has 21 at-bats logged against Ray with eight base hits and nine strikeouts.
