Los Angeles Dodgers: Trying for a three-game hitting streak to start 2019
By Jason Reed
The Los Angeles Dodgers lost the second game of the season in 13 innings in a game that was fueled offensively by our Beat the Streak pick, A.J. Pollock.
The Los Angeles Dodgers were unable to start the season with a 2-0 record as the team dropped the second game of the year to the Arizona Diamondbacks in 13 innings.
This game was a tad frustrating for Dodger fans as it was one that the team easily should have won. If Enrique Hernandez would have hit a baseball 10 feet to the right he would have slugged a three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth to make it 6-0.
If Russell Martin was able to make a (hard) play on a wild pitch in the top of the seventh then Christian Walker would not have hit the subsequent three-run home run to tie the game.
The Dodgers missed a lot of hittable pitches and the entire game can be summed up in one word: unlucky. While it was frustrating to watch, it was just the second game of the year and this is going to happen over a 162-game season. No reason to be upset about it.
The brightest spot for the Los Angeles Dodgers was A.J. Pollock, who torched his old team with four hits in six at-bats and three RBIs. He was also the fourth run scored courtesy of a Corey Seager liner to right field.
That was great for us at LA Sports Hub as it was our selection for our Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak series. Meanwhile, the fans’ pick was Chris Taylor, who was hitless in two at-bats before being replaced by Joc Pederson.
So far we are 2-2 in our picks, the fans are 0-2. Is this the day where the fans finally get the best of us? Will we both be successful? We shall see. Here are the picks.
