The Los Angeles Dodgers gave the fans in attendance some fireworks on Saturday night after Friday Night Fireworks were canceled the night before.

The Los Angeles Dodgers fell to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday in 13 innings for the team’s first loss of the year. Not only was it an unlucky loss for the Dodgers but it was unlucky for the fans in attendance, as the extra-inning game resulted in Friday Night Fireworks being canceled.

The Dodger bats made up for it the very next night with some fireworks of their own. The Dodgers scored 18 runs courtesy of three big innings, beating the Diamondbacks by 13 runs.

The best part of the night was Russell Martin‘s perfect inning in the ninth inning, which was a direct juxtaposition from John Ryan Murphy‘s two innings in which he allowed seven runs.

The other great part about the night was it was perfect for our Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak series. We are rolling thus far this season with a three-game hitting streak to start the year.

It was Justin Turner that extended our streak to three games with a 3-5 effort that drove in five runs.

The fans also finally got on the board but just by the skin of their teeth. The fans selected Corey Seager to get a base hit, who went 1-4 on the night. While he did have an RBI single, Seager was not really part of this offensive outburst and is starting the year off fairly slow.

It was a good day for this series, however, we still lead the fans. Here is our prediction (and yours!) for Sunday’s afternoon game.

Jason’s pick (Current streak: 3): Chris Taylor

Baseball is a game of trends and if you are someone that wants to bet on trends then betting on Chris Taylor to get a base hit is the smartest thing to do.

It might not seem that smart on paper as Taylor’s batting average is still in the basement as the utility player is yet to record a base hit in seven at-bats.

However, that is where trends come into play. Taylor might not be as good as he was during his breakout year but is still an above-average big league hitter that last season recorded two and a half base hits for every ten at-bats.

If we take averages into account and assume he gets at least three at-bats today then it seems like a bonafide lock that Taylor gets at least one base hit. The chances of him starting the year 0-10 or 0-11 are smaller than the chances of him getting just one base hit in the contest.

The fans’ pick (Current streak: 1): A.J. Pollock

Frank Martinez provides the fan pick of the day, going with the newest Dodger, A.J. Pollock.

Pollock has impressed all Dodger fans through three games this season and is torching his former team. Pollock has five hits in 12 at-bats and has reached base twice via a walk, raising his on-base percentage to .533.

The difference with today’s game is that Pollock actually has history against the opposing pitcher, Luke Weaver. Weaver was not a teammate of Pollock’s and was acquired by the team in the Paul Goldschmidt trade with the St. Louis Cardinals.

Pollock has two hits off of Weaver in six at-bats, making him the only Dodger bat with more than one hit against the young right-hander. Outside of Pollock, the Dodgers are just 1-15 lifetime against Weaver.

Next. Predicting the Dodgers' season leaders. dark

Not a large sample size at all but that trend needs to be broken so the team can win its first series of the year as well as extend our hitting streaks.
