The Wizards are not a huge market team and are set to pay the duo a lot of money in the upcoming seasons. And as we have seen the past several years, the duo of Wall and Beal is not good enough to compete with the heavyweights in the NBA.
This trade gets both players off their payroll and allows the team to start anew.Reggie Jacksonhas a high salary but is not a long-term contract and the team gets two valuable young pieces in Brandon Ingram andLuke Kennardalong with two first-round picks. That is a nice way to hit the reset button.
As for the Pistons, they are the team that has to be desperate and take on Wall’s extension. The Pistons are talented but are still a ways away from contending and need to add that third star any way they can and unfortunately, the only way to land a third star is the same way they landed Griffin.
The Lakers get the best out of this deal as they land Bradley Beal without long-term financial repercussions. Sure, it takes Brandon Ingram and a pick but including the Pistons and their assets/needs allows the Lakers to keep it at just Ingram and a pick.
