The Los Angeles Dodgers are embarking on their first road trip of the season, which starts in Denver against the division rival Colorado Rockies.

The Los Angeles Dodgers started the 2019 season with a seven-game homestand and did exactly what the team needed to do and went 5-2. Anything less than 5-2, especially to the San Francisco Giants and Arizona Diamondbacks, would have felt like a disappointment.

The Dodgers have the chance to further assert their National League West dominance with a three-game series in Colorado against the Rockies.

While the year is still young and this series is not going to guarantee year-long success for the Dodgers, the team can still make a statement by winning the first three series of the year, all against division rivals.

The Dodgers nearly did not do that on Wednesday but the team was able to come back from a 3-2 deficit to win 5-3. The bad part about the game for us was that our Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak selection, Justin Turner, went 0-4 with three strikeouts.

Meanwhile, the fans were once again able to get the best of us as they went with Cody Bellinger, who continued his hot start with a 2-4 outing.

If the Dodgers want to make some statement wins against the Rockies then we are going to have to see the bats reignite in Coors Field. Here is who we think will provide those sparks in game one.

Jason’s pick (Current streak: 0): A.J. Pollock

I nearly went with Justin Turner yet again but did not want to have the same pick two games in a row, although that strategy would probably work as there is no way that Turner goes 0-for in two consecutive games.

We are keeping the same strategy with a different player and going with A.J. Pollock, who also had an 0-4 outing on Wednesday night against the Giants.

Unlike Turner to start the year, Pollock has actually been pretty good for the Dodgers thus far and is proving to be a smart signing, if this production continues. With a southpaw on the mound, Pollock is going to get a chance to raise that average against left-handed pitching and is going to do so with two extra-base hits.

The fans’ pick (Current streak: 1): Cody Bellinger

The fans once again went with Cody Bellinger, which makes sense as right now he is one of the hottest hitters in all of baseball and was already a huge fan-favorite.

Bellinger does have a bit of a challenge hitting cleanup today against southpaw Tyler Anderson. He is hitting .231 against him lifetime, however, one of his three hits was a home run. If anyone is going to take advantage of the thin Colorado air it is Bellinger.

However, Bellinger is showing major improvements at the plate against southpaws and until he cools down, I would not put it past him to get a base hit.
