Los Angeles Lakers: Three free agents LA has no chance of signing
By Jason Reed
1. Kevin Durant
Kevin Durant shocked the NBA world three years ago when he made the move that seemed to be great on paper but nobody ever thought he would actually do: sign with the best team in NBA history, at least according to record, the Golden State Warriors.
Durant has received nothing but criticism since then despite his success and two Finals MVPs. That team is still Stephen Curry‘s team and while Durant might act like he does not care, he is someone that obviously takes note of the public opinion.
Everything is pointing to Durant leaving Golden State this summer and partaking in a new journey where he can prove that he can be the number one guy on a title-winning team that does not have four all-stars.
Various different teams have been discussed with the Lakers always on the fringe as a darkhorse candidate. Los Angeles would make sense for Durant’s endeavors outside of basketball and it would present him an avenue to stay out West and beat the team that many think have carried him to his rings.
And while it was fun to talk about Durant coming to LA after his post-game secretive discussion with LeBron James, it is something that will never happen.
Durant is not going to take the criticism of leaving the Warriors to play alongside LeBron James and if he is going to leave it is going to be to start fresh; he would be better off just staying in Golden State at that point.
