2. Kawhi Leonard

Kawhi Leonard, like Paul George a year ago, is someone that has strong roots to Los Angeles and has been naturally connected to the Lakers as a result. Leonard, like George, is also going to skip out on signing with the Los Angeles Lakers despite all of the rumors and reports.

However, unlike George, it appears as if Leonard will actually leave the Toronto Raptors and might actually make best of that Los Angeles connection. It just won’t be with the Lakers, it will likely be with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Kawhi Leonard is not someone that would thrive alongside LeBron James and all of the media that surrounds that. The Lakers are a visible mess and Leonard, who is a very smart guy and is very self-aware of his own worth, is going to look at the Lakers’ situation and laugh.

Leonard is someone that does not need the spotlight and is at his best when he is playing elite basketball under the radar. While Toronto has provided that so far, the Clippers would be perfect for that and they have the cap space to build around him.

There are probably going to be reports after the playoffs about Leonard not re-signing with the Raptors, which will naturally bring the Lakers into the mix. Don’t buy in, don’t get your hopes up. It won’t happen.
