The Los Angeles Dodgers are looking to extend the team’s winning streak to six games with another win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are making the case to be the streakiest team in all of Major League Baseball to start the year.

After starting the year with an 8-2 record and five-game winning streak, the team started a downwards tailspin and lost six games in a row after getting swept by the St. Louis Cardinals and dropping two to the Milwaukee Brewers.

However, the Dodgers won the last game of the Brewers series and swept the Cincinnati Reds. With a win in Thursday’s series opener in Milwaukee, the Dodgers now have a five-game winning streak and have split the season series at two games a piece with the Brewers.

Things were looking bleak during the six-game losing streak, although it was always in the back of everyone’s mind that it was way too soon to panic. But still, having a 13-8 record with a six-game losing streak is not a bad start to the season.

The one thing to nitpick in this current five-game winning streak has been the offense. The Dodgers have won some of these games on the heels of great pitching in not-so-great offensive nights.

Joc Pederson bailed the team out with a walk-off home run on Jackie Robinson Day and the Dodgers have scored just a combined six runs in the team’s last two wins.

If trends are any indication then the Dodgers are likely due for a relatively good night at the dish against Jhoulys Chacin and the Milwaukee Brewers. Here are our picks of who will get a base hit as part of our Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak series.

Jason’s pick (Current streak: 3): Chris Taylor

Chris Taylor is not someone that I pick often and in fact, have not picked a single time this season. Taylor has not been able to reproduce his breakout 2017 season and has been one of the worst hitters in terms of strikeouts since the start of 2018.

Since the start of the 2018 season, Taylor ranks eighth in strikeouts and is one of just three players in the top-10 with fewer than 700 plate appearances. As a result, there has been a lot of hitless games.

However, Taylor is three for eight in his career against Chacin and for some odd reason, my gut is telling me that Taylor is due for a line-drive home run that gets over the left field wall.

If it happens then great, if not, I would not be surprised.

The fans’ pick (Current streak: 4): Cody Bellinger

Cody Bellinger has been picked at least 80 percent of the time by the fans this year but it is hard to really blame them. Bellinger has been the hottest hitter in the entire league and slugged his 10th home run of the year on Thursday night.

Bellinger has a promising 5-12 line against Chacin, which includes a triple and a home run. Betting on Bellinger to get a hit with his hotness and his lifetime matchup against Chacin is a no-brainer.

Bellinger has just two games without a hit this year, both coming in St. Louis and both of which he had just two at-bats.

If Bellinger’s 2019 is any indication then all he needs is three at-bats and he will record at least one hit for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
