Los Angeles Lakers: Upon reflection, the Lakers have drafted great

2016 NBA Draft:
The gap between the best player selected in the 2016 NBA Draft, first overall pick Ben Simmons, and the rest of the draft class is a large one. However, in his third season in the league, Brandon Ingram began to close that gap and showed legitimate flashes of all-star potential.
This season could have served as the year before the breakout, the year before Ingram becomes a consistent 20-per-night scorer and is in the all-star discussion. Hopefully, he does so on the Lakers and not on another team, like the previous two players on this list.
The Lakers easily made the best possible selection in Ingram with the second overall pick. The rest of the 2016 draft class is really weak upon reflection and Ingram has as much promise as any young player in the league.
Third overall pick Jaylen Brown has shown promise as well and if you ask Celtics fans then Brown might be better than Ingram, although that is not the case.
Aside from that, the next best player in the top-10 is Jamal Murray, who would not have been a worth second-overall selection.
Ingram was the right pick. The team needed a scorer that could play the two or the three and Ingram was one of the best scorers in the draft. His progression has not been as fast as Simmons’, but he is the right pick.
