Los Angeles Lakers: Each infinity stone’s Laker counterpart
By Jason Reed
One of the most anticipated movies of all-time, Avengers: Endgame, releases on April 26 and we decided to connect the blockbuster to the Los Angeles Lakers.
As a marvel fan on top of my fandom for Los Angeles sports, I cannot even begin to tell you how excited I am for Avengers: Endgame.
The culmination of 11 years and 22 films, Avengers: Endgame is one of the most anticipated movies of all-time and is already receiving great reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.
I am going to see the film on Thursday night at 9:45 p.m. PST, so you do not have to worry about any spoilers.
However, you did not come here to hear about Endgame, you came here to read about the Los Angeles Lakers. Luckily for you, assuming you’re a Marvel fan since you clicked on this article, you are a fan of both.
We decided to do something a little different. Instead of comparing each Avenger to a Laker, we decided to compare each infinity stone in Thanos’ gauntlet to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Mind stone: Rob Pelinka
Now keep in mind, none of these people are obviously going to have the traits of the infinity stones and instead will make the connection in other ways. In terms of Rob Pelinka, he gets the label of the mind stone as he is the mind in charge of the operation in Los Angeles.
If we would have written this article a month ago then the obvious candidate would have been Magic Johnson as President of Basketball Operations. However, Pelinka as the GM is a nice pick as well.
You could make the case for owner Jeannie Buss but Pelinka is the one that has to make the moves and use his basketball mind. For that reason, he gets the mind stone and can sit nicely on the back of Thanos’ hand, right in the center.
