The Los Angeles Lakers are in pursuit of a second superstar, there are no doubts about that and recently the speculation around Kemba Walker has picked up.

The Los Angeles Lakers are going to be chasing a second superstar this summer to hopefully give the team that final piece to not only put the Lakers in the playoffs but make them bonafide title contenders.

Unfortunately for Laker fans, the front office probably will not get the ideal superstar that people were hoping for. Every big name star has been connected to other teams, with the chances of them joining the Lakers seeming slim to none.

Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, Klay Thompson, Kyrie Irving all have plenty of reasons to sign with teams other than the Lakers. Heck, even a trade for Anthony Davis seems near impossible after the repercussions of the trade discussions this season.

Two other big-name superstars, Jimmy Butler and DeMarcus Cousins, actually seem to have a fairly decent shot at signing with the Lakers. However, both guys have their own issues, which is why they probably would not get a max deal from any team other than the Lakers.

All of these factors has allowed Kemba Walker to pick up steam as a potential target for the Lakers. And while the idea of Walker being in LA is intriguing, he really should not be the team’s plan B.

We have already dove in on why the Lakers should avoid Walker and you can find that here. Today, we are going to look at three potential “plan B” superstar targets that would be better than Walker.
