Los Angeles Chargers: Bold predictions for the 2019 draft class
By Jason Reed
While the play on the field will be the ultimate deciding factor of whether or not this is true, the Los Angeles Chargers seemed to have yet another great draft.
The Los Angeles Chargers have quietly carved out the niche of being one of the best teams drafting-wise in the National Football league. Three of the last four selections heading into the 2019 NFL Draft were Pro Bowl players with All-Pro caliber and of the last ten years prior to 2019, eight selections were an All-Pro at some point.
That is without mentioning the late-round draft picks that have been excellent for the Chargers. The likes of Keenan Allen and Desmond King has been fantastic and were both drafted by the Chargers in the third and fifth round, respectively.
On paper, it appears that the Chargers are primed for yet another great draft. First-round pick Jerry Tillery was a surprise but fits this defense like a glove and second-round pick Nasir Adderley was someone that some people thought the Chargers would select in the first round.
The Chargers checked every box in the draft, drafting players in areas of need and seemingly making good selections. Of course, the ultimate decider of that is how the players actually perform, but the Chargers have to be liking how they are set up.
And here’s a spoiler alert: we like how the Chargers have set themselves up as well. Here are three bold predictions for the Chargers’ 2019 draft class.
