2. Nasir Adderley is the perfect Robin to Dewin James’ Batman

As we stated in the previous slide, the Chargers could not have done the first two picks in the 2019 NFL Draft any better than they actually did. The second of those two selections, Nasir Adderley, arguably has more hype around him that Tillery does.

This is likely because of the fact that some people expected him to go in the first round to the Chargers. The Chargers had a hole at safety after releasing Jahleel Addae, which was the perfect set up move to draft yet another young safety.

The other reason for the hype around Adderley is the tape that he produced at Deleware. Adderley has the speed and fluidity in his game to drop back deep in coverage and was one of the best open-field tacklers in the draft class.

His ball skills were some of the best in the draft, although there were concerns on how he would react when it comes to closing the space on the field. Adderley always played better in cornerback-like coverages at safety.

That could be a concern but the Chargers are so unique with their defense that he likely will be playing more like a cornerback, which will free up the field for Derwin James to wreak havoc.

I do not expect Adderley to be one of the best rookies this year or carve out a Hall of Fame career like his uncle, Herb. However, I do expect Adderley to be very effective at the next level and make Derwin James even better than he already is.
