Byron Scott

  • Years coached: 2014-2016
  • Record: 38-126
  • Playoff games: 0

Despite being a popular player from the “Showtime” era Los Angeles Lakers, Byron Scott‘s tenure as a head coach is the most forgettable. It also ushered in the worst era in Lakers history.

Despite a career track record with some success in stints with the New Jersey Nets and the then New Orleans Hornets, Scott has the ignominy of having the worst coaching record in Lakers history.

With the Lakers, Scott has the lowest winning percentage (.227) of all-time among Lakers coaches, even going back to their days in Minneapolis. His tenure was marred by a lack of development for the young prospects drafted during his time there.

It is no wonder that Scott only lasted two seasons. It remains to be seen if all the losing paid off as none of the draft picks from his tenure remain with the team. The pick immediately after Scott’s firing was Brandon Ingram and his potential has yet to be realized.
