2. DeMarcus Cousins

DeMarcus Cousins is currently not suiting up for the Golden State Warriors after injuring his quad in the second game of the first round against the Los Angeles Clippers. Cousins has indicated that he does want to come back before the year is done to help the Warriors win the title, so the injury is obviously not that serious.

Even if Cousins does not return in time for the playoffs he will have plenty of time to recover and be ready for the beginning of next season. It is not his current injury that should keep the Los Angeles Lakers from signing Boogie.

Instead, it is the Achilles injury that he suffered over a year ago that is worrisome. While Cousins has returned since and has put together some good showings, he never looked to be at 100 percent. Whether that is a byproduct of the injury or joining the Warriors does not matter, it is concerning.

Achilles injuries are not something to take lightly, especially with a big man that is not as mobile with Cousins.

The other reason that the Lakers should avoid Cousins is his demeanor and the effect that he would have on the team. The Lakers already seem to be on icy waters and the organization as a whole has looked like a circus over the last year.

Adding someone that has not been a great teammate and is not a surefire thing to the kind of contract he will likely ask for is not a smart move. If he wants another cheap one year deal that would be one thing, but having Cousins be the best signing of the summer would be a massive disappointment.
