The Los Angeles Dodgers’ 10 game home winning streak was snapped on Thursday after being shut out by Patrick Corbin and the Washington Nationals.

The Los Angeles Dodgers‘ 10 game winning streak at Dodger Stadium was fun while it lasted but finally came to an end on Thursday night at the hands of the Washington Nationals. It would be silly to expect this winning streak to go on forever, but the Dodgers certainly did not go out with a bang.

Patrick Corbin fired seven strong shutout innings and Sean Doolittle was able to get out of the eighth, giving the Nationals the shutout and a 6-0 victory.

These kinds of games happen and while you never want to see your team perform at this level, fans must avoid getting too over critical of one result. It happens, the team is moving on and so should we.

Taking the bump for the Dodgers on Friday night is Kenta Maeda, who admittedly has been pretty shaky this season. When he is on he is really on and can mow through a lineup. The only problem is that he is not always on and when he struggles the Dodgers typically lose.

The Dodger bats should be able to provide some relief, though, as taking the mound for the Nationals is Anibal Sanchez. Sanchez has a 5.15 ERA this season and might be on the receiving end of an angry offense that wants to explode after being shutout the night prior.

While it likely won’t be an absolute slugfest, we likely are going to see a much better showing at the plate by the Boys in Blue. As part of our Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak series, here is who we think will get at least one base hit on Friday night.

Jason’s pick (Current streak: 1): Cody Bellinger

Cody Bellinger has cooled off a tad in the month of May, which has brought his average below .400 and has given Christian Yelich the lead in slugging percentage.

But still, Bellinger leads the MLB in batting average, RBIs, runs, on-base percentage and OPS. He may not be doing red-hot like he was in April but he is still getting on base at least once a game for the Dodgers.

Bellinger will do more than get on base on Friday night as he will blast his first home run of the month of May off of Sanchez. Bellinger is due for a massive Bellibomb and something tells us that Sanchez will leave something over the outside of the plate that Bellinger will turn on and hit a towering shot.

All we need is one single but we are thinking bigger with Bellinger. For that reason, he is an easy pick to make for our Beat the Streak.
