After some funky scheduling that saw the team get four off-days in 11 days, the Los Angeles Dodgers start a two-week run without an off day in Pittsburgh.

The Los Angeles Dodgers started the year with very few off-days and have been blessed, perhaps too much, with off-days this month. The Dodgers have had a total of five off-days in the month of May, four of which coming from the 13th to the 23rd.

Perhaps the extra time off has helped the Dodgers, as well as they, have quietly been dominating in the month of May. The Dodgers are 12-6 in May and with some lesser competition coming up, the team could start a fun run.

It starts with a three-game road series against the Pittsburgh Pirates, a team that the Dodgers swept at home in April. The team then returns for a four-game set against the New York Mets at Dodger Stadium and a three-game home series against the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Phillies certainly are tough competition but it would on be all that surprising if the Dodgers break off a 6-1 run in their next seven games.

It all starts on Friday, though, and a win with Walker Buehler on the bump could propel that hot start. The Dodgers are 2-5 at PNC Park the last two seasons, so they haven’t necessarily been great in Pittsburgh.

Either way, the offense does not need to have a massive night on Friday with Buehler on the bump, but they certainly have to be better than the one-run production that we saw on Wednesday.

As part of our Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak series, here is who we think will get at least one base hit.

Jason’s pick (Current streak: 0): Corey Seager

Cody Bellinger burned me on Wednesday and ended a streak that was finally starting to gain some steam. Bellinger went 0-4 in the game and fell to a lowly .394 batting average as a result.

But I mean there were not many people that got a hit at all. Only three guys on the Dodgers combined for five hits on Wednesday, so the chances of getting a right selection were slim.

On Friday I am going with another player that went hitless on Wednesday in Corey Seager. Seager has obviously not been quite himself to start the season but has shown better signs of returning to form recently.

After an 0-3 outing, Seager is due for at least a base knock. I do not expect anything crazy out of Seager on Friday, but it would be extremely surprising if he has another goose egg in the hit column.
