Baseball fans are in for a treat as the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets send two flamethrowers to the mound to square off on Wednesday.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets are tied at one game apiece in this four-game series at Dodger Stadium and are both going to provide plenty of firepower on Wednesday in a high-profile, flamethrowing, pitching matchup.

On the bump for the Dodgers is Walker Buehler, who is not only the future of the Dodgers’ rotation but will be one of the best pitchers in the league for quite some time. Buehler’s 3.58 ERA might not seem all that overwhelming thus far but the young flamethrower has overcome a slow start and has been great since.

Buehler has a 2.28 ERA in his last seven starts with 43 strikeouts in 43.1 innings. In the month of May, Buehler has a 1.73 ERA in four starts.

Facing off against the Dodgers is Noah Syndergaard, who has been less impressive with a 4.93 ERA on the season. Seven of Syndergaard’s 11 starts have fielded four or more earned runs; the other four were all quality starts.

Syndergaard may not be the most consistent early on but he obviously has the capability of shutting the Dodgers out over nine innings.

The only problem for Syndergaard is that the Dodgers’ offense is coming off of a poor night in which the team only scored three runs. Typically, this Dodger team responds from those types of games with a big offensive showing, so Syndergaard could get the brunt of the blow.

You cannot expect an offensive onslaught against Syndergaard, but it certainly does not seem impossible, as it would in year’s past. As part of our Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak series, here is who we think can record at least one base hit off of Thor.

Jason’s pick (Current streak: 5): Corey Seager

The Los Angeles Dodgers actually have fairly good success against Noah Syndergaard in limited at-bats. In 19 collective at-bats between the Dodgers’ current offense, the team has a .316 batting average with three doubles and a home run.

Leading the charge for those surprisingly good numbers is none other than Corey Seager. In five regular-season at-bats against Syndergaard in his career, Seager has recorded two singles and a home run, showing that he can handle Syndergaard’s gas.

The right on left matchup obviously gives Seager a better chance to get a hit and Syndergaard delivers so much velocity that it wouldn’t be surprising to see Seager go with it and muscle a ball out of the park the other way.

We don’t need that from Seager, all we need is a base hit. I am pretty confident he can deliver that and extend the hitting streak to six.
