LA Sports: Top five uniform numbers in Los Angeles history
By Jamaal Artis
1. Number 32
There is no greater number in LA sports than number 32. Consider the fact that in a few years two number 32 jerseys will be in the rafters in the Staples Center and at a Dodger game you can look up and see the number 32 among the other retired numbers.
But what truly makes 32 special is whenever there was a championship on the line number 32 got the job done. Sandy Koufax, Magic Johnson, Marcu Allen, and Jonathan Quick not only share the common bond of wearing number 32, but they were all named Most Valuable Player of their respective championship series and games.
No other city can boast his kind of pedigree in sports and it’s very unlikely another city ever will. Koufax, Magic, and Allen are all in their sports Hall of Fame and Quick can get there as well. In Los Angeles, the number 32 has a tradition of greatness and it’s embodied in those four players.
That is why the number 32 is the greatest number in LA sports.
