After a great series in which the Los Angeles Dodgers took three of four against the New York Mets, the team now hosts the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Los Angeles Dodgers‘ four-game series against the New York Mets certainly was an entertaining one. Dodger fans got to see everything in that series (including a loss) which emphasized that the team was a step above the Mets.

The Dodgers won the first game in blowout fashion after forcing Jacob deGrom out of the game after five because of pitch count. Los Angeles lost the next game and it appeared as if the Boys in Blue were going to drop the third, down 8-3 in the bottom of the seventh.

The Dodgers rallied, got the score to 8-5 heading into the ninth and sparked a miraculous comeback against the best closer in the league, Edwin Diaz, to win 9-8.

Finally, to wrap the series up, Hyun-Jin Ryu went out and did Hyun-Jin Ryu things, throwing seven and two-thirds scoreless innings in front of the home crowd before Kenley Jansen wrapped up a four-out save.

The 3-1 series moved the Dodgers’ home record to 22-7 and Hyun-Jin Ryu’s home ERA to 1.01.

Now the Los Angeles Dodgers welcome the Philadelphia Phillies for a three-game set at Dodger Stadium. The Phillies are a World Series contender and very well could see the Dodgers in the postseason.

Winning this series would be yet another statement by the Dodgers. While we do not want to get ahead of ourselves, if the team were to sweep the Phillies in a decisive manner then it would be a massive message to the rest of the National League.

The Dodgers must take it one game at a time, however, and on Friday the team squares off against former NLCS foe, Jake Arrieta. As part of our Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak series, here is who we think will get a hit off of the former Cy Young.

Jason’s pick (Current streak: 7): Corey Seager

We have been on fire with our Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak picks and it helps that the team has been so good offensively over the last week. For the first time all year, our streak reaches seven games and is flirting with double-digits, something we have not done in the two years of doing this.

Friday is a bit of a risky pick as I am going with the same player I picked on Wednesday, Corey Seager. Typically, I do not like picking the same player in a span this short, but there are reasons to believe that Seager will get at least one base hit.

First of all, Seager is coming off of a day off, which has had good impacts on his teammates in the recent past. Not only that, he is finally starting to look like the Corey Seager of old as he is hitting .381 over the last seven days.

Finally, to put the icing on the cake, Seager has three hits in five regular-season at-bats against Arrieta, showing that he had no problems getting a base hit in the past. Hopefully, that trend continues.
