James Worthy earned his nickname “Big Game James” due to his ability to elevate his play in the playoffs. No game epitomized this more than game seven of the 1988 NBA Finals.

Worthy put the Lakers on his back and was able to get a triple double for the first and only time in his career. By leading the Lakers to a 108-105 win, Worthy was named NBA Finals MVP, he still the only Laker to get a triple double in a Game 7 Finals and win the game.

His game score 35.0 remains the fifth highest in Lakers Finals history. By coming up big when they needed him most, the Lakers also became the first back to back champions in 19 years. Big Game James was truly Worthy of that moniker.
