1. Trading for Chris Paul

We alluded to Chris Paul a few weeks ago and the fact that he unfortunately made perfect sense for the Los Angeles Lakers. It is not that he makes sense and we want to see the Lakers trade for him, it is that he makes sense for a desperate front office to go after.

Even Paul is on the trade block this summer as the Houston Rockets look to shuffle things around James Harden in order to finally get over that hump and make it to the NBA Finals. The thing is that not many teams need a point guard and no team really wants to take on a contract as massive as Paul’s.

The only team that it makes sense for in a positional standpoint is the Phoenix Suns. However, even the Suns might be smart enough to avoid that contract and continue to build the youth.

That leaves no real suitors for Paul, which increases his odds of going to the Lakers. If we are approaching August and the Lakers and have not landed any stars then the trade talks for Paul will definitely begin.

That would suck up all of the Lakers’ cap space and would likely cost the team Lonzo Ball and whoever the team selects with the fourth overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.

It simply would be terrible. Paul is one of the greatest point guards of all time but is well over the hump and is well overpaid.
