The Los Angeles Lakers need to add depth at the center position and have a trade chip to utilize in the fourth overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.

The Los Angeles Lakers did not give themselves a long-term plan at center and despite having some talented players at the position over the past few years, have nothing to show for it heading into the offseason.

Moritz Wagner is the only center on the depth chart that is locked in for next season and he was not all that impressive in his rookie season and should not be relied upon in his second year if the Lakers truly want to contend for the NBA title.

Of course, the team could always bring back JaVale McGee on a veteran minimum deal, but the front office definitely can get better than having McGee and Wagner as the team’s centers.

It really is interesting that this is the case as the Lakers have had some solid players at the center position the last two years. The team let both Julius Randle and Brook Lopez walk for pennies, with both proving their worth on their new teams.

And while he was going to be a restricted free agent this summer anyway, the team traded Ivica Zubac for practically nothing after he finally started firing on all cylinders.

It is safe to say that the Los Angeles Lakers have not been great with the center position in recent years but can turn that around if they make a smart acquisition this summer. Here are two potential centers to trade for using the fourth overall pick.
