The Los Angeles Dodgers finally had a big offensive night, scoring seven runs against the Chicago Cubs with four home runs on the night.

The Los Angeles Dodgers‘ offense has been looking a little sluggish over the past week or so but the Boys in Blue did exactly what they needed to do on Thursday and potentially sparked it with Corey Seager out of the lineup.

The Dodgers scored seven runs off of Jon Lester and the Chicago Cubs and were able to turn a quality start from Clayton Kershaw into a 7-3 victory. Not only was it a great win because of the offensive showing, but beating the Cubs is always a great thing to see.

The Dodgers were still a little too reliant on the home run ball, which is what hurt the team so bad last season, but that is okay. They came up with the big hits when they needed it and now the offense is primed to carry that success into Friday night’s game.

The Dodgers have a favorable matchup on Friday night in Cubs’ right-hander Kyle Hendricks. The current group of Dodger hitters have a combined 41 at-bats against Hendricks and are hitting .293 with four home runs and 10 RBIs.

Even better, in two career starts at Dodger Stadium Hendricks has a 6.52 ERA. The only ballpark that he has been worse in is Target Field in Minnesota and he has made just one start there in his career.

All signs are pointing to the Dodgers’ offense having another big night, which should make things easy on Rich Hill. As part of our Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak series, here is who we think will get at least one base hit.

Jason’s pick (Current streak: 0): Maax Muncy

Before diving into why I selected Max Muncy, I have to say that I am never going to go with Enrique Hernandez again. Hernandez yet again let me down last night, ending a three-game hitting streak, and ended my career-high 13-game hitting streak a week ago.

Tonight, we are going with someone who has been red-hot as of late and should be able to turn my streak around, Max Muncy.

Typically I try and avoid selections like Muncy. Yes, he is red-hot, but he has a tendency to go hitless in certain games and after several good showings, it feels like he is “due” for a hitless ballgame.

However, he has the favorable right-handed matchup against a finesse pitcher that does not pump gas. If Hendricks makes just one small mistake against Muncy, he will make him pay.

Muncy has four at-bats against Hendricks in his career with two hits and a homer. Hopefully, he can replicate those numbers on Friday night.
