The Los Angeles Dodgers are still one of the best teams in the Major Leagues but the offensive is going through a bit of a dry spell in recent weeks.

The last few weeks have been a testament to just how good the Los Angeles Dodgers are. Despite being somewhat cold offensively, the Los Angeles Dodgers have still been able to win games and avoid ever going on any sort of ice-cold spell.

They have not been great over the last 10 games, as they are 5-5, but they have done enough to avoid the worst-case scenario and maintain a 10-game lead in the National League West. Most of that is due to the pitching, which has picked up the slack where the offense has been poor.

In the last 10 games, the Dodgers have scored two or fewer runs four times and have scored more than three runs three times. The goal typically is to score around four runs behind this pitching staff to nearly guarantee a victory.

It is a shame as well as the Dodgers have lost three games in the last 10 despite allowing three or fewer runs. If the Dodgers scored four runs in those games the team would be 8-2 in their last 10.

There is no real need to worry as the team is just fine, we have just seen the team over-rely on the home run ball over the last 10 games, something that plagued them last year. They’ll be fine as the offense is more than capable of manufacturing runs without the long ball.

It is a cold streak and it happens to every team and the fact that the Dodgers are still this good shows you all you need to know about the team.

They are still capable of a big night every single night and tonight, the offense looks to provide that behind Clayton Kershaw. Kershaw has really settled in this year as a pitcher that throws 6-7 innings and allows 2-3 runs nearly every start, so the offense knows exactly what it needs to do in order to win.

As part of our Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak series, here is who we think will get at least one base hit on Tuesday.

Jason’s pick (Current streak: 0): Justin Turner

I am going with Justin Turner for the second day in a row as I went with him last night but he did have a scheduled night off. However, he did have a pinch-hit at-bat and did not record a hit, which kind of sucks as it ended my streak with a 0-1 performance.

Turner has been great coming off of these scheduled off-days and that should be no different for him on Wednesday. He is coming up against a young right-hander that he has never faced before in Shaun Anderson and is going to work the strike zone against the 24-year-old and get two base knocks off of him.

Turner has one of the best feels for the strike zone in the entire league and a matchup against a young pitcher is something he will capitalize on. It won’t just be one hit for Turner as he will have yet another multi-hit night.
