For the first time this season, the Los Angeles Dodgers will be hosting the Colorado Rockies to try and prove their NL West dominance.

The Colorado Rockies have been the second-best team in the National League since the team started with a dreadful 3-12 record. The only problem is that the best team has been the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are 43-17 in their last 60 and have still gained 5.5 games on the Rockies in that time.

This will be the first time that the two sides meet since the beginning of April when the Dodgers played their first road games at Coors Field. The Rockies have not yet been to Dodger Stadium this season and have quite the task ahead of them.

At 51-25, the Dodgers not only have the best record in baseball but also have the best home record as well. Los Angeles is 31-9 at Dodger Stadium this season, which is by far the best home record in baseball.

The standings are not at stake in this series as the Dodgers have a 10-game lead over the Rockies but this series presents an opportunity for either team to prove something. For the Dodgers, winning (and even sweeping) this series would prove that they are the head and shoulders better than the rest of the NL West.

For the Rockies, it could prove that they are in the same ballpark as the Dodgers and should be taken seriously as one of the National League’s best teams.

It is going to be a fun weekend series and in game one fans are treated to two hard-throwing right-handers in German Marquez and Walker Buehler.

As part of our Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak series, here is who we think will get at least one base hit for the Boys in Blue.

Jason’s pick (Current streak: 1): Max Muncy

I was tempted to pick Chris Taylor as he has somehow flipped a switch the last three games and has been the Dodgers’ best hitter. Taylor has great personal numbers against Marquez as well, so it seemed like a lock.

However, I do not trust Taylor to have yet another great game as he is bound to come back down to earth. Because of that, I am going with a left-handed hitter that has slugged well off of Marquez, Max Muncy.

Muncy is only 2-8 in his career against Marquez but the important thing to note is that both of those hits were home runs. Muncy has been exceptional for the Dodgers over the last month. He has an eight-game hitting streak and has reached base safely in 29 straight games.

The last game that he did not reach safely, which was on May 16, he only had one plate appearance as a pinch hitter. Out of the 65 games in which Muncy had three or more plate appearances he only has eight that he did not reach base safely.

That means that if Muncy starts and gets at least three plate appearances he has an 87.7 percent chance of getting on base. Hopefully, the method of getting on is via a base hit on Friday night.
