After a rough loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday, the Los Angeles Dodgers are undoubtedly looking to turn it around in a big way.

The Los Angeles Dodgers‘ loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday was one of the worst losses of the year. A shaky, and quite frankly unlucky, first inning from rookie pitcher Tony Gonsolin gave the Diamondbacks an early lead and they never looked back.

At the end of the day, the Dodgers fell to Arizona, 8-2, to drop the series two games to one. The silver lining is that it has been over a month since the Dodgers lost by five or more runs and is only the seventh time all year that the team lost by five or more runs.

That might feel like a lot but it is quite remarkable that in 82 games there have only been seven losses by five or more runs.  It is going to happen over the course of a 162-game season and if it was not for an unlucky first this could have been a completely different ballgame.

Now the Dodgers head into Coors Field to play the Colorado Rockies, who just got walked off against three times in a row in LA and have lost 11 in a row against the Dodgers.

Everyone knows that the ball flies further in Coors Field and there is no doubt that the Dodgers are looking to send the ball into the atmosphere. The best part? On the mound for the Dodgers is Walker Buehler, who struck out 16 Rockies in his last start.

On the mound for the Rockies is Peter Lambert, who started on Saturday against the Dodgers. As part of our Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak series, here is who we think can get a base hit off of Lambert to help fuel the offense.

Jason’s pick (Current streak: 3): Alex Verdugo

Alex Verdugo had two hits off of Lambert in three at-bats on Saturday and in the very same game provided the second of three walk-offs by a rookie in the weekend series. That game was Verdugo’s best of the year as he recorded four hits in total with two home runs, one of which coming off of Lambert.

Not only did Verdugo have a home run against Lambert but his other hit against the right-handed pitcher was a double. With two extra-base hits in three at-bats, it is hard to ignore the matchup between Verdugo and Lambert.

Verdugo does not have to follow up Saturday’s game with another two home run effort but he certainly is going to look to get the offense going. I expect a multi-hit game out of Verdugo on Thursday with at least one extra-base hit off of Lambert.
