The first day of NBA free agency was as crazy as advertised but both the Los Angeles Lakers and Kawhi Leonard stayed relatively quiet.

Unlike some of the other major sports, which could take weeks to develop once free agency begins, the NBA did not disappoint in its first day of free agency in the summer of 2019.

In what was being advertised as one of the deepest free agent classes of all-time, many NBA teams were active on Sunday and the entire league shifted as a result.

The biggest winners of Sunday were the Brooklyn Nets, who brought in the pairing of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, as well as DeAndre Jordan, to create the NBA’s newest super team. Although year one might not be a walk in the park with Durant recovering from an Achilles tear, the Nets are set up to win their first NBA Championship.

Jimmy Butler agreed to a sign and trade deal to the Miami Heat, the Philadelphia 76ers made some splashes by re-signing Tobias Harris and bringing in Al Horford and Josh Richarson and the Golden State Warriors made late-night headlines by trading Andre Iguodala to the Memphis Grizzlies to create space for a sign and trade for D’Angelo Russell.

There were two surprisingly quiet parties on Sunday: the Los Angeles Lakers and Kawhi Leonard. The tension is certainly building and there is a chance that by the time you are reading this Leonard has found a home.

However, with scheduled meetings with other NBA teams looming, Leonard more than likely will be available by the time you read this.

We thought there was absolutely no chance that Leonard would join the Lakers and even called all the Leonard reports about the team nothing but smoke and mirrors. Not only did that take age extremely poorly but Leonard appears to be heading to the Lakers after all.

Of course, nothing is a done deal and we have no inside scoops on which direction Leonard is leaning. Here are our three reasons that are leading us to believe Leonard will be a Laker.
