2. The Los Angeles Lakers’ inactivity is the perfect calm before the storm

Out of everything that happened on Sunday you would think that the Los Angeles Lakers would have made some sort of move. This is a title contending team that is sitting on a roster that is five players deep, one of which has not played a single NBA minute, and desperately needs to add depth.

It did not have to be the biggest signing in the world but there are a ton of great fits that the Lakers could have signed on day one and could still sign moving forward.

J.J. Redick was a perfect fit but he was probably out of the price range and current free agents Seth Curry and Danny Green are literally perfect for the Lakers but were not brought in on day one. That is telling, the Lakers are saving the moves for something special and then after that, the dominos will begin to fall.

Heck, the Los Angeles Lakers could have offered D’Angelo Russell a max contract, and maybe they did and brought him in instead of the Warriors. Nope, nothing.

But what is more special than Leonard? At this point, there are no other stars to pursue that would cost the same financially where the Lakers would have to be patient with their signings. The team knows something we don’t and they wouldn’t risk potentially missing out on some perfect fits unless they had a great feeling about something.

This could be a bold strategy that ends up hurting the Los Angeles Lakers in the end. However, they probably know something we don’t and that could be that Leonard prefers to be a Laker.

Again, it is just speculation, we do not know that for certain yet.
