The Los Angeles Dodgers are looking to make it an even 10 wins in a row at Dodger Stadium with Clayton Kershaw on the mound.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been great at home — not just great relative to their peers, but historically great — this season. While there is still about three months left of action, the Dodgers are on-pace to literally make history with their home record this year.

It would be fitting considering the team has already made history in 2019. Whether it was being the first team with three consecutive rookie walk-off home runs or the first team ever to win a game with five consecutive walks, the 2019 Dodgers have done something nobody thought was possible: improve from the 2017 Dodgers.

A large part of the team’s success this year has been their success at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers are still yet to lose 10 games at home with a 37-9 home record. If the season ended today, the Dodgers would be just the fourth team with a .800 home winning percentage and would have the second-best home record of all-time.

There is a lot of time for the Dodgers to level out and finish with a more modest home record, although it will still be insanely good. However, there is also more time to improve on the home record and finish on top of the all-time standings.

Based on how the team is playing, I would bet on that before betting on the team falling off the table. The Los Angeles Dodgers have won nine home games in a row dating back to June 18. Since the start of May, the Dodgers are 25-5 (.833!!!) at Dodger Stadium.

The team looks to continue that streak with Clayton Kershaw, who has a 2.68 ERA at Dodger Stadium this year, on the mound. As part of our Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak series, this is who we think can provide the offense to move the home winning streak to 10.

Jason’s pick (Current streak: 0): Justin Turner

Last night I was unable to do what the Los Angeles Dodgers are attempting to do on Friday, extend the streak to 10. With a nine-game hitting streak, I turned to none other than Alex Verdugo, who seemed due for a hit after coming off an 0-5 game.

Verdugo did not get a hit and instead went 0-3 in the contest, which reset our streak back to zero. Today, I am going with the same logic that Verdugo failed me on that Justin Turner will hopefully prove me right on.

Turner too went hitless in Thursday’s game, which was his first start since June 29. It also helps that Turner is right-handed as the Dodgers are coming up against southpaw Eric Lauer.

Turner does not have the best career numbers against Lauer as he has just one hit in seven at-bats against the young lefty. However, Turner is the definition of being due for a base hit and will deliver that regardless on Friday night.
