Roundtable: Los Angeles Lakers-Los Angeles Clippers arms race

3. Who wins an NBA Title first?
Redan: Among the two teams, the Lakers will win an NBA title first because LeBron James knows he needs to elevate his game and play better than he did last year. LeBron will show everyone that he came to LA more for the business ventures and opportunities in LA. A championship is the only way to prove it.
With Davis by his side and supplemented with a more proven, experienced supporting cast than last year, LeBron will find a way to deliver the 17th title to the city. It will by no means be easy.
Hil: As much as I would like to see the Lakers win a title with LeBron, I believe the Clippers are in the best position to win a title first, especially this year. They have an established bench and two stars who are game changers and defensive gurus at their positions.
Also, their best free agent signee Kawhi Leonard is the defending NBA champion and will look to defend his crown by bringing a title to his hometown. The Clippers team as a whole has some of the best structure in the league both in the team and front office and will look to bring home a title.
Jamaal: Both teams are contenders this year on paper, anything can happen but I think the Lakers will win a title first. I think LeBron James has one more epic run in him to win his fourth title overall. But I think thanks to youth and stability the Clippers will win more titles over the years.
This could be like the late 2000s where the Boston Celtics created a veteran-laden superstar team to win a title but were unable to sustain the excellence because of the more youthful Lakers and Miami Heat used their superstar power.
