Los Angeles Dodgers: Looking to take two of three at Fenway
By Jason Reed
The Los Angeles Dodgers had a definitive win on Saturday after a definitive loss on Friday and can now take the three-game series at Fenway Park.
The Los Angeles Dodgers did not look great in the team’s first game back from the All-Star Break. Los Angeles just could not get anything going offensively and the Boston Red Sox were extremely efficient in scoring and defeated the Dodgers, 8-1.
The Dodgers were able to dish out a little bit of revenge on Saturday though as the bats came alive and the Dodgers were able to walk away with the 11-2 victory. Justin Turner had a great game, A.J. Pollock had his first big impact since returning from the IL and Cody Bellinger launched yet another home run.
From hitting the ball out of the ballpark to making heads up plays to running out infield singles, the Dodgers seemingly did everything right on Saturday.
That puts the Boys in Blue in a position to win the three-game series, two games to one, against the Boston Red Sox at their home park. Taking the mound for the Dodgers will be NL Cy Young frontrunner, Hyun-Jin Ryu, while David Price gets the ball for the Sox.
I went to the game on Friday and sat through the rain delay just to see the Dodgers lose but did not go on Saturday. I will be back at Fenway Park on Sunday, so hopefully, I am not some form of bad luck and the Dodgers’ offense sucks as a result.
As part of our Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak series, here is who I think will get a base hit on Sunday.
Jason’s pick (Current streak: 1): Chris Taylor
Chris Taylor was not in the lineup on Friday but batted lead-off on Saturday and produced a hitless effort. This may come as a surprise, as Taylor has been one of the hottest hitters in the entire league over the last month.
It is still too soon to completely restore faith that Taylor is back to his 2017 self but he definitely figured something out and is still better than he was in 2018 and to start 2019.
Taylor still has not gotten a base hit in the second half and with yet another southpaw on the mound he will likely get the start, especially considering he did not get the start on Friday.
A double off of the Green Monster for Taylor seems fitting as his bat will start to heat up yet again with a two-hit effort.
