After winning two games in a row at Fenway Park, the Los Angeles Dodgers had no problem exploding for runs in game one against the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Los Angeles Dodgers started the second half of the MLB season with a pretty historic road matchup against the Boston Red Sox. In only the third regular-season series between the two teams in Boston, the Dodgers won the last two games to win the series.

The last game was taxing, however, as it took the Dodgers 12 innings and nearly six hours to beat the Red Sox. After considering the time it takes to get ready, drive to the airport, fly and check into a hotel, the Dodgers probably weren’t hitting their pillows until at least 4 a.m. in Philadelphia.

That did not matter as 13 hours later the Dodgers were able to explode for 16 runs, beating the Phillies 16-2 in the process. This now moves the Dodgers to a perfect 4-0 against the Phillies in 2019 and continues Philadelphia’s downward trend in the standings.

Walker Buehler makes his first start of the second half on Tuesday while the Phillies are sending Vince Velasquez to the mound. Buehler did not pitch in the first series between the two teams but Velasquez did, allowing two runs in one and two-thirds innings pitched of relief.

The Dodgers offense certainly is going to look to continue the offensive dominance that the team displayed on Monday, although scoring close to 16 runs again is probably not going to happen.

Either way, as part of our Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak series, this is who we think is going to get at least one base hit on Tuesday.

Jason’s pick (Current streak: 1): Cody Bellinger

I have not gone with Cody Bellinger since the All-Star Break and it seems like a fitting time to go with the slugger after a great performance on Monday. Bellinger recorded four hits, two of which were home runs, and now leads the league in home runs.

With Bellinger being second in both batting average and RBIs, he obviously has a chance to be the first National League player to earn the triple crown since 1937. There is still a long way to go until then and he has some ground to catch, but he can do.

I do not expect Bellinger to have another multi-homer game or even hit a home run on Tuesday. However, with a favorable matchup style-wise with Velasquez and a 2-3 lifetime line against him, chances are Bellinger will not only get a base hit but have a multi-hit game.

One is enough to extend my streak to two but it really feels like he will continue his hot bat from Monday and put together a great four-game series in Philly.
