The Los Angeles Dodgers have dropped all three games against the Los Angeles Angels this season and are looking to avoid a season sweep on Wednesday.

It does not matter how good the Los Angeles Dodgers are and how bad the competition is, there are always two teams that the Dodgers seem to struggle against: the Los Angeles Angels and San Francisco Giants.

That is not to say that either is a bad team but they are less talented than the Dodgers are neither are playoff teams. Typically, the Dodgers would handle series against teams of this caliber with no problem and at least win the series.

For some reason, against these two rivals, the Dodgers always seem to struggle. That has extended into this season as the Dodgers have dropped all three games against the Angels and play the fourth and final game of the season against the team on Wednesday.

The Dodgers have already lost the series so there is no salvaging that but this win is important as it does give the team a win heading into a road trip, which is something that could be built on.

Angel fans are going to talk smack and that is just the way the cookie crumbles. The best thing to do is look forward to the next game.

As part of our Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak series, this is who we think will get at least one base hit as the Dodgers look to take the last game of the Freeway Series.

Jason’s pick (Current streak: 5): Alex Verdugo

The Los Angeles Dodgers have allowed five runs in each of the three games against the Angels this year and the offense has been unable to have one of their vintage big nights. While scoring a combined 10 runs in three games is not bad, it can definitely be better for a team this talented.

The Dodgers definitely could have scored more runs on Tuesday and if it was not for two great outfield assists then the team would have scored two more runs. But hey, the Angels made the throws when it mattered.

It took a while for the offense to get going as most of the nine hits came in the later stages of the game. One player that didn’t get a hit at all in the contest though was Alex Verdugo, who went 0-4.

That is exactly the reason why I am going with Verdugo. His smooth swing and gap-to-gap power is far too talented to go hitless in two consecutive games, especially if he gets another four at-bats.

Verdugo has come back down to earth some recently but he is still one of the best pure young hitters in the league. We don’t need a big night out of Verdugo, we just need one single.
