After taking two of three on the road against the Washington Nationals, the Los Angeles Dodgers head into a slugfest at Coors Field.

The Los Angeles Dodgers did exactly what the team needed to do against the Washington Nationals on the road and took two of three games, proving they are still the team to be in the National League.

The one silver lining is that the Dodgers avoided both Max Scherzer and Patrick Corbin and lost the game they faced against Stephen Strasburg. That trio of pitchers is fantastic and is the only trio in the National League that can stand toe-to-toe with the Dodgers’ trio.

At the end of the day the Dodgers still won the series and are now in prime position to have a winning road trip. It is time to get the bats out as well as the team has three games at Coors Field before returning home to LA.

The last time these two teams played at Coors Field they split a four-game series. The Dodgers scored a combined 34 runs while the Rockies scored a combined 31 runs. With the backend of the Dodgers’ rotation starting this series, we could have more high-scoring slugfests.

Kenta Maeda has to do whatever he can to limit the damage and the Dodger bats are looking for a big day off of right-hander Jon Gray. Overall, Los Angeles has a .336 batting average against Gray.

As part of our daily Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak series, this is the bat we think can provide some fireworks and get at least one base hit in the contest.

Jason’s pick (Current streak: 1): Cody Bellinger

There is one word to describe Cody Bellinger against Jon Gray: dominant. Bellinger is nothing short of dominant against the right-handed pitcher and has absolutely raked off of Gray in his career.

Bellinger has 13 at-bats against Gray with nine hits — four of those being a double and one being a triple. Surprisingly, Bellinger does not have a big fly against Gray despite these numbers but still has four RBIs and a 1.738 OPS.

Perhaps Monday is the day where Bellinger breaks his homerless streak and hits his first bomb off of Jon Gray. It definitely is a realistic possibility as the ball seemingly looks like a beach ball to Bellinger when Gray is pitching.

Bellinger certainly has not been bad over the last week but he has not been his same self. A perfect way to break out of that is with a massive game at Coors Field against a pitcher that you already rake with ease.
