2. LeBron sets a career-high in assists per game

There are going to be some natural impacts of having Davis on the team and having LeBron play second fiddle to him. First of all, James is going to score fewer points per game, albeit it still likely won’t fall under 24 points per game.

He is also probably going to grab slightly fewer rebounds per game as well with both Davis and DeMarcus Cousins also in the frontcourt. However, on the opposite side of the spectrum, LeBron is going to have plenty more opportunities to rack in assists.

LeBron has always been praised for his all-around play and his ability to facilitate the basketball. The only year that he has averaged fewer than six assists per game was his rookie year and he has averaged 7.2 assists per game throughout his career.

His best per-game assist numbers came during the 2017-2018 season when he carried the Cavaliers to the NBA Finals. LeBron averaged 9.1 assists per game, the only time in his career he crossed over the nine assists per-game threshold.

He is going to once against cross over that threshold in 2019 and is going to surpass the 9.1 number that he established two years ago. LeBron has always been great in feeding players down low and hitting shooters at the line and on this team, he has several options for LeBron to dish out to.

LeBron probably won’t end up being the team’s starting point guard but he definitely is more traditional of a point guard than Alex Caruso and is more effective than Rajon Rondo. With no point guard to force the ball out of his hands, LeBron will set a career-high this season.
