The Los Angeles Dodgers were swept by the St. Louis Cardinals in St. Louis and now look to repay the favor at Dodger Stadium.

The Los Angeles Dodgers ended a four-game home series against a division foe exactly how every team wants to end the game in the same circumstances: with a walk-off. Max Muncy‘s two-run walk-off double gave the Dodgers the win and a 3-1 series win over the Padres.

Muncy also gave closer Kirby Yates his third loss of the season, all of which coming against the Dodgers.

Now, the Dodgers look to take that momentum and positive vibes into a new three-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals always seem to give the Dodgers fits, no matter the situation and swept the Dodgers in early April.

That four-game sweep at Busch Stadium was part of a six-game losing streak for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Since then, the Dodgers have been phenomenal and have consistently been atop the MLB in win percentage.

Taking the mound for the Dodgers is rookie Tony Gonsolin. Gonsolin was roughed up in his first big league start but threw four great innings in a relief appearance at Coors Field last week. Gonsolin threw three and two-thirds perfect innings in that appearance before allowing three hits and a run with two outs in the ninth.

Taking the mound for the Dodgers is Michael Wacha, former college teammate of Ross Stripling and someone who the Dodgers have a .398 batting average against.

The numbers look promising and as part of our Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak series, here is who we think can produce at least one base hit to help Gonsolin get some insurance.

Jason’s pick (Current streak: 0): A.J. Pollock

It was hard to pick out which hitter to pick against Wacha as they all have great hitting numbers against him. Common sense might say to go with a left-handed batter, but instead, we are going with a righty.

A.J. Pollock has five career hits off Wacha in 11 at-bats with two doubles, a home run and five RBIs. The only player with more hits on the Dodgers against Wacha is David Freese, who is on the IL. No other player has a 1.400 OPS against Wacha with more than four at-bats.

The story of Pollock’s 2019 season has been these hot streak pockets where he looks like the best hitter on the Dodgers. After going 2-3 on Sunday with a home run, Pollock looks primed for another big day,

And if it is not a big day that is fine. All we need is one base hit to extend our streak, which has been pretty unlucky recently.
