Todd Gurley looked like Todd Gurley

I don’t know what Ram fans expect out of Todd Gurley after last season but I was surprised to see how some fans reacted to the first game of the year. Nobody really knew what to expect out of Gurley and his knee health with Week 1 finally giving us a peek into how he is feeling.

For the most part, Gurley looked like Gurley. He broke off some quick runs, showcased his athleticism, was able to turn and pivot with really no problem and was even finishing runs at the end of plays. He did not look like someone who was hurting.

Granted, the team used him less than they normally would, which is a sign of them being cautious of his workload. And even though Malcolm Brown got the two touchdowns, Gurley still ran the ball for 97 yards on 14 carries.

Yet some fans (not all) were still disappointing with Gurley. I even saw one fan on a Facebook group claim that he was washed up. If 97 yards on 14 carries is you being washed up, then you obviously are a damn good football player.

Just watching Gurley without the box score showed promising signs that his knee is not currently an issue and that with the right load management, he can be healthy until February. Looking at the box score only backs up those positive takeaways.
