Los Angeles Rams: Staff predictions vs. Cleveland Browns
By Jason Reed
The Los Angeles Rams will be under the primetime lights in Week 3 as the team takes on the Cleveland Browns in Cleveland on Sunday Night Football.
The Los Angeles Rams had a very big win in Week 2 and now will be under the primetime lights as they take on the Cleveland Browns in what was one of the most anticipated games before the season began.
However, with the popular consensus souring on the Browns a bit, this game is not as anticipated as it was when it was first announced. It is strange how quickly NFL fans and analysts can flip their opinion on a team but that is exactly what is happening with the Browns.
Either way, it is a compelling matchup between two young quarterbacks and a young, unproven team that is trying to follow in the path that the Rams paved two years ago. Here is how the LA Sports Hub staff see it going down.
Jamaal Artis (2-0): 28-14, Los Angeles Rams
The Rams head to Cleveland to face the Browns on Sunday night. It will be a tough task on two fronts. If the offense wants to get things going they will have to neutralize the Browns pass rush which features Myles Garrett who recorded three sacks in the Browns previous game.
On the other side of the ball Aaron Donald may not have a sack yet, he is still able to disrupt the offense. If Browns QB Baker Mayfield finds himself being chased by Donald that guaranteed.
Hil Lopez (3-1): 24-20, Los Angeles Rams
The 2-0 Rams look to continue their winning streak against Cleveland on this Sunday night matchup. The Rams easily defeated the Saints 28-9 as Drew Brees was lost due to injury. Cooper Kupp looked really good in the last game as he had over 100+ yards.
Cleveland got its first win on Monday night against the Jets, but it hardly proved anything as it came against the Jets and their third-string quarterback. This game will be close and will not have as much offense as expected, but the Rams will come out on top 24-20.
Redan Lopez (3-1): 38-20, Los Angeles Rams
I am going to focus on the negatives for the Browns. Browns’ Tight End David Njoku is now on injured reserve due to a broken wrist and concussion. Not to mention that the Browns’ offensive line is subpar.
Browns’ Quarterback Baker Mayfield has not looked impressive in the first two games he has played, despite playing two bottom 10 teams in the Titans and Jets. Coach Freddie Kitchens has not managed his personnel well, especially late in games.
The only constant that you can count on is Browns’ Running Back Nick Chubb. Meanwhile, the Rams seem to be finding their stride. The Rams actually looked like the Rams from last year with a dominant second half in Week 2 against the New Orleans Saints.
Rams’ Running Back Todd Gurley and the trio of wide receivers should showcase their dominance against a questionable Browns team. I think Rams’ defensive tackle Aaron Donald will cause constant chaos in Mayfield’s face, causing him to turn the ball over multiple times.
While many believe this game to be a close one with the pressure on the Rams, I think all the pressure is on the Browns to show that they are not a playoff pretender anymore. Sadly, the Browns are still a pretender.
Jason Reed (2-2): 24-20, Cleveland Browns
I feel like I am the only person in America, besides Brown fans, that think the Browns will win this game. This either means I am way ahead of the curve or I am going to look absolutely foolish when the Rams win.
This game is kind of a reverse trap game to me. The Rams just defeated the New Orleans Saints in a heavily anticipated matchup, albeit Drew Brees got injured. Now, they have to travel east to play a team that is being undervalued because of how overvalued they were heading into this year.
This just has the perfect recipe to be an ugly Jared Goff game where he throws three interceptions, giving Baker Mayfield enough of a window to do just enough to edge out the Rams on his home turf.
It sounds crazy, I know. The Los Angeles Rams absolutely should win this game. But as we see literally every single week in the NFL, the team that should win doesn’t always win.
