The Los Angeles Chargers moved back to .500 with a win on Sunday as they did what they were supposed to do: definitively beat the Miami Dolphins.

Philip Rivers and the Los Angeles Chargers came into Miami hoping to turn their luck around following two consecutive close losses. Luckily, a game against Miami can remedy anyone’s team. The Chargers started a bit slow against the Dolphins as they spotted them a 10-7 lead but were able to come out on top handily 30-10.

Despite missing a ton of players on offense, including tight end Virgil Green, receiver Mike Williams, and backup running back Josh Jackson, Philip Rivers was able to easily dissect the overwhelmed Dolphins defense and throw for 310 yards.

He was able to spread his completions around to nine different receivers. Rivers touchdowns were complete to Austin Ekeler and backup running back Troymaine Pope.

Speaking of Ekeler, he was sensational today. He ran for 60 yards and a touchdown and also caught 5 balls for 62 yards and a score. With Melvin Gordon active for emergency only, Ekeler was given a majority of the work for possibly the last time this season. Ekeler will still have a role in the offense, but more than likely a change of pace one when Gordon is up to speed.

Besides the opening two drives for the Dolphins, in which they scored 10 points, they were manhandled by the Chargers defense. Josh Rosen did throw a touchdown, but also got picked off once and was sacked 4 times.

Desmond King had 2.5 sacks and a couple of his teammates — Thomas Davis Sr., Joey Bosa, and Jerry Tillery — each got half a sack.

Additionally, the special teams unit was solid. Punter Ty Long once again filled in admirably for Mike Badgley. After clanking a couple of field goals last week against the Texans, Long made all 3 field goals and extra points.

The revitalized Chargers improved to 2-2. They will face the Denver Broncos next week in a home tilt as the Broncos are still looking for their first win of the season.
