Los Angeles Lakers: Three expectations to avoid having in 2019
By Jason Reed
1. Dwight Howard is primed for a very successful comeback season
It has been really interesting to see how Dwight Howard has morphed in the eyes of Laker fans since joining the team just a few weeks ago. When it was reported that he was a possibility after DeMarcus Cousins was injured most fans rejected the idea due to Howard’s terrible first tenure with the team.
Since then, Howard has grown on Laker fans and now there is a good portion of fans and analysts that think Howard is going to have this great bounce-back year. To be completely fair, even I have covered why and how Howard can have a great 2019.
He appears to be fully healthy and he is finally playing on a true title-contending team, which makes a difference. It is not like he is some scrub, either, as he was still putting up good numbers over the last several years.
There definitely is a path in which that happens but expecting it to happen will only lead to disappointment. Let’s not forget that this is the guy that has brought chaos wherever he goes and we really have no reason to believe that it won’t happen in LA until he proves it to us.
I like the signing of Howard and this is by no means a statement that he will have a bad 2019 season. Let’s just not count the chickens before they hatch.
