We got our first taste of the Los Angeles Lakers before the 2019 season in the team’s opening preseason win over the Golden State Warriors.

The NBA offseason always feels like the shortest offseason due to the ongoing nature of the league and all of the things that still continue to happen in the offseason. Despite that, it has still felt like forever since fans have gotten to see the Los Angeles Lakers play basketball.

Those cravings were satisfied on Saturday as the Lakers opened their preseason slate with a game on the road against the Golden State Warriors at the newly opened Chase Center. The Lakers were victorious, 123-101.

Although it was a meaningless basketball game at the end of the day, we were able to get a taste of the new-look Lakers and the kind of basketball they are going to play this season. Preseason basketball can be way more telling than preseason football or Spring Training and we definitely learned some things about the Lakers in this game.

We spend so much time previewing the season and predicting where the team will be strong, where it will be weak and the overall course of the season. It is one thing to piece it all together in our minds rather than seeing it play out in-game speed against fellow NBA players.

Fans should not get overly confident after one game but we might end up adding fuel to that fire. The Lakers showed three strengths on Saturday that will end up leading them to an NBA Title. Here they are, broken down.
