The stars for the Los Angeles Lakers have shown up for the team in pre-season. But what about the guys you don’t know too much about? The ones vying for a roster spot and the ones who are also performing at a high level. The two guys being Zach Norvell and Devontae Cacok

The Los Angeles Lakers‘ first preseason game was the perfect game, for the players and the fans alike. Everyone seemed to be clicking and everyone seemed dialed in. Even the guys who fly under the radar.

Zach Norvell found himself having seven points and four assists. Not too bad for someone with no NBA experience. Devontae Cacok had an even better outing in the first pre-season game, he ended up with 11 points and four rebounds in just 15 minutes.

In their second NBA pre-season game, they continued to be impressive. Both were only given 13 minutes of playtime. Zach Norvell used his 13 minutes to gather up seven points and an assist. Devontae Cacok got himself six points with five rebounds.

Both Norvell and Cacok are young guys who are going to need work to fully develop into the players the Lakers want them to become. Zach Norvell is on a two-way contract as of right now. So, he should get quality playing time and experience with the South Bay Lakers.

Devontae Cacok was an undrafted rookie who got himself a spot on the Lakers with an Exhibit 10 contract. So, I wouldn’t expect Cacok to get much play unless injuries were to happen.

Coming out of college in just his sophomore, year Zach Norvell averaged 14.9 points and three assists. Devontae Cacok stayed throughout college into his senior year averaging, 15.2 points and 12.3 rebounds a game. Obviously both of these guys balled out in college, but there was a reason they fell.

Can they be trustworthy and can the team see them reaching a bigger potential? Who knows, the draft is practically a guessing game. But, these two guys have looked promising so far. Each of them performing well in the time they are given.  If they continue to improve and work as hard as they have been, the sky’s the limit for these guys.

dark. Next. How the bench minutes should be divvied up

But for now, we will just have to wait and see.
