Los Angeles Dodgers: Free agents that make the most sense for LA
By Jason Reed
The Los Angeles Dodgers’ season ended a bit prematurely and now the front office is now tasked with assessing the ball club this offseason.
The Los Angeles Dodgers were surprised in the National League Division Series and were bested by the Washington Nationals in five games. This sent the Dodgers home much earlier than fans expected and gave the front office an early head start on the offseason that lies ahead.
Unlike past offseasons, there are not that many questions around the team heading into the winter. There is set to be a lot of roster turnover, with the team only having four significant free agents, two of which you could say are not even that significant (Russell Martin and the now-retired David Freese).
Coming up short might serve as a kick in the rear for the Dodgers to make a big move. Or, the front office might evaluate the deep farm system and only make lesser moves.
For once, the Dodgers actually have a lot of luxury tax space, with just over $91 million in space, according to Spotrac. Granted, they have contracts with in-house players to explore in a few years, so that has to be kept in mind.
The team has the room to make a splash, the question is if it will be a small splash, or if it will be a big splash.
They are bound to make lesser moves, but that is not what we are concerned with. Here are the three familiar free agents that make the most sense for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
