1. RP Will Smith

First off, wouldn’t it be awesome to have Will Smith pitching with Will Smith catching him behind the plate? It would be iconic, but that is not why the Los Angeles Dodgers should be interested in Will Smith.

Smith is someone who had ties to the Dodgers during the trade deadline as a potential target. However, at the time, the San Francisco Giants were riding a bit of a hot streak and did not trade any of their assets, which ended up being an awful mistake. Plus, the Giants probably would not have done business with LA, anyway.

Now, Smith is a free agent and is free to go wherever he pleases. After the team threw money at Joe Kelly and that did not work out fans are probably hesitant to buy into the idea of signing Smith.

However, Smith has been more reliable than Kelly was prior to being a Dodger and has shown that he can be a late-game arm for the Dodgers to bank on.

The southpaw has a 2.66 ERA over the last two years with a staggering 167 strikeouts in 118 and one-third innings. Left-handed batters hit .157 against Smith last season.

With the ongoing questions around Kenley Jansen, the Dodgers will definitely be looking to add late-inning bullpen help, if the price is right. Smith is the perfect guy to be the consistent eighth-inning guy that can also fill in at the closer position if needed.
