Los Angeles Dodgers: Prospects that could be used as trade bait

2. Tony Gonsolin

Personally, I would love to see Tony Gonsolin stick around in the Dodger blue and be an asset in some way shape or form in the future. While I would like to see him stay in LA, he has all the makings of being someone that the Los Angeles Dodgers part ways with this winter.

It just has Andrew Friedman written all over it. They promoted Gonsolin faster than anticipated this year and for the most part he was great with the big league club, recording a 2.93 ERA in 40 innings in the majors.

However, he still did not make the postseason roster while Dustin May, who finished the year strong but did not have as good of numbers overall, did. That might be telling that the Dodgers don’t fully trust Gonsolin and that he is on the outside looking in.

Gonsolin is worthy of being in the rotation but there simply is not enough room, especially if the Dodgers are going after one of the big-name pitching free agents this offseason.

Like De Leon, the Dodgers got him the big-league experience to make him more attractable to a team that needs starting pitching. That makes Gonsolin a much more intriguing trade chip rather than if teams only had his 4.35 minor league ERA to go off of.

Gonsolin can be an impact arm in the bullpen but if the Dodgers can address a different area and pull from their strengths then they absolutely will.
