After the Los Angeles Dodgers disappointingly fell in the NLDS to the Washington Nationals, many fans called for a shake-up, which includes Corey Seager.

The Los Angeles Dodgers set a franchise record in wins with 106 this season but had their shortest postseason run since 2015. The Dodgers fell short in five games to the Washington Nationals, after leading for most of Game 5. The Nationals then walked through the St. Louis Cardinals and won the Pennant.

Dodger fans have been playing a game of what-ifs following the loss. What if Clayton Kershaw was left in? What if Will Smith‘s ninth-inning shot got down in the gap? What if Joc Pederson‘s two-out rope in Game 4 with the bases loaded was fair, not inches foul?

One of the biggest what-if questions is what if Corey Seager was not on the team? This sounds crazy, but Seager was constantly put in some of the games’ biggest moments and could not come up.

He went 0-8 with runners in scoring position, going 3-20 in the series with eight strikeouts. If Seager got one hit with runners in scoring position, perhaps in the ninth inning of Game 2, the Dodgers would probably still be playing.

Seager did terribly and absolutely should be held accountable, but the backlash of this poor performance has led to a select group of fans asking for Seager to be traded.

This is a fairly harsh and quick reaction for a guy who most fans were praising heading into the postseason because he finished the regular season red-hot. But hey, five bad games can completely change the fanbase’s opinion on you, right?

The Seager trade demands are a bit absurd at this point in his career. Here is why we think trading Corey Seager would be a mistake.
