2. The Dodgers are then left with questions marks for the ace

With Hyun-Jin Ryu out of the picture, the Los Angeles Dodgers would have more questions than answers when it comes to the team’s ace in the rotation. It is not a question of whether or not they have enough arms, as they definitely do, it will be about who can be the guy for LA moving forward.

The two options are Walker Buehler and Clayton Kershaw. Buehler showed serious poise in two postseason starts against the Washington Nationals and has come up big whenever the Dodgers asked him to.

He would be the logical choice for most fans but he still shows some inconsistencies throughout the year and it might be a year or two too early to consider him the ace on a World Series team.

Kershaw, on the other hand, is two+ years removed from being the ace on a World Series team. Kershaw was consistent for the Dodgers in 2019 but he was not the Kershaw of old and is a mediocre option to be the staff’s ace.

There is depth behind them with the likes of Kenta Maeda, Dustin May, Julio Urias, Ross Stripling and Tony Gonsolin. However, that depth should not stop the Dodgers from adding to the top of the rotation.
