Joe Kelly: C-

Joe Kelly passes this season, but just barely. Kelly is the student that had a 67 percent heading into the final and needed to get an 80 or higher to pass the class and just narrowly got it done. One more missed question and he would have finished with a D+ in the class.

A 4.56 ERA on the season might not seem like a passing grade, especially considering the three-year contract that the Los Angeles Dodgers signed him to prior to the season. Granted, while I still think that contract is terrible because of the length, that should not make his grade any worse.

Kelly started his career off terribly with the Dodgers. He lost the first two games of the season for the Dodgers and had a 10.13 ERA on May 4, which led every single Dodger fan to automatically despise the guy who shut them out in the previous World Series.

However, he rallied after that slow start to be a consistent reliever for the Dodgers the rest of the year. After that May 4 appearance, Kelly finished the year with a 2.61 ERA in 38 innings of work with 49 strikeouts.

He had four games after May 4 in which he allowed two or more runs, although only twice were those two or more runs earned.
