Los Angeles Dodgers: Why a Francisco Lindor trade will never happen
By Jason Reed
3. Who’s to say that the Cleveland Indians would even be interested in a trade?
This happens all the time when trade reports like this come out and the fans talk about the potential trade at hand. Every sports fan seemingly forgets that it takes two to tango and only looks at a trade from their team’s point of view, not the others.

Yes, there are certain reasons to think that the Indians might be interested in entertaining trading Lindor. However, at the same time, there are plenty of reasons why the Indians might opt against trading Lindor, especially this winter.
A big part of it is that Lindor still has two more years of arbitration. If the Indians are going to trade Lindor, unless he outright asks for it, they should wait until next winter where he only has one more year of arbitration and they know for a fact that he won’t re-sign.
They are going to get the same thing for Lindor a year from now that they will today as long as there are no freak injuries or unforeseen drop-offs. Usually, when big-name stars get traded like this, you start to hear rumblings like this a year before it happens.
There definitely is the chance that the Indians are sellers this season but after seeing the Washington Nationals win the World Series with some of their biggest stars about to be free agents, the Indians might just look to roll it back out there, make some additions here and there and hope they get hot at the right time, like Washington.
There is a possibility that the Los Angeles Dodgers do show interest in trading for Lindor, call Indians’ GM Mike Chernoff and get hung up on.
I think that, especially after what the Nationals just accomplished, is more realistic than the Indians trading Lindor to any team this winter.
